چکیده

BackgroundAlthough surgical repair was the traditional first-line treatment for native coarctation of aorta (CoA), balloon angioplasty (BA) and stenting are now increasingly being performed. We aimed to determine practice patterns acute outcomes transcatheter interventions in largest multicenter registry congenital catheterization.MethodsCoA from IMPACT (IMproving Pediatric Adult Congenital Treatment) National Cardiovascular Data Registry were analyzed. The procedure choice compared among patients with no prior on aortic isthmus (native CoA). Procedural success defined as major adverse events (MAEs) a final peak gradient <20 mm Hg optimal outcome MAEs <10 Hg.ResultsOver 8-year study period, 5928 CoA procedures performed, which 1187 performed CoA. In this group, more then half children aged >1 year >90% those >8 years. achieved but only 69% BAs. Stent implantation associated higher likelihood (<10 Hg) after adjustment age baseline characteristics. most common <1 (14%), occurred 2% 2.5% 1 18 years 6.6% adults (P < .001), likely BA than (odds ratio, 0.5; 95% CI, 0.28-0.9; unadjusted P = .02).ConclusionsCatheter safely older adults, high degree immediate procedural success, particularly stenting.

Influence of gender on clinical outcomes following transcatheter aortic valve implantation from the UK transcatheter aortic valve implantation registry and the National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research.

Gender differences exist in outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention and coronary artery bypass graft surgery but have yet to be fully explored after transcatheter aortic valve implantation. We aimed to investigate gender differences after transcatheter aortic valve implantation in the UK National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research registry. A retrospective analysis was per...

Acute Type A Dissection and Acute Inferior MI Complicating Aortic Coarctation: A Case Report

Aortic coarctation is a rare but dangerous condition. Presence of aortic dissection in addition to coarctation is significantly rarer and more life-threatening. Here, we present a case of acute inferior MI due to aortic dissection complicating a native aortic coarctation. A 17-year-old boy was admitted to our emergency department due to severe chest pain and loss of consciousness. His ele...

Early- and mid-term outcomes after transcatheter aortic valve implantation. Data from a single-center registry

INTRODUCTION Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is a less invasive treatment option for elderly, high-risk patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis (AS) than aortic valve replacement. More importantly, TAVI improves survival and quality of life as compared to medical treatment in inoperable patients. AIM To assess early- and mid-term clinical outcomes after TAVI. MATERIA...

Peripheral Artery Disease and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Outcomes: A Report From the Society of Thoracic Surgeons/American College of Cardiology Transcatheter Therapy Registry.

BACKGROUND Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is associated with increased cardiovascular mortality, and PAD risk factors overlap with those for aortic stenosis. The prevalence and outcomes associated with PAD in a population undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) are unknown. METHODS AND RESULTS Using the Society of Thoracic Surgeons/Transcatheter Valve Therapy Registry linked...

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: A Review Article

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a novel therapeutic intervention for the replacement of severely stenotic aortic valves in high-risk patients for standard surgical procedures. Since the initial PARTNER trial results, use of TAVR has been on the rise each year. New delivery methods and different valves have been developed and modified in order to promote the minimally invasive p...
